Greig Fors, 76, passed away on July 20, 2024 in Henderson, Nevada. Greig was born in San Francisco, California, and was the only child of Derith and Roy Fors, who preceded him in death.
Greig is survived by his wife, Judith (Judy) Fors; stepchildren Jerah and Hassan Yassine, John and Ashley Marquardt; and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ghassan, and Kyleigh.
He was a graduate of Lowell High School in San Francisco and served in the U.S. Air Force. He attended the College of Marin where he majored in oceanography, until a jewelry class changed his life’s direction.
Greig’s passions in life were many. The most important to him was his metal artistry, which he created for the Renaissance Faires in both Northern and Southern California where he ran his booth Rocketts Forge and Brass Works for several years, while working in many positions at Faire. He also belonged to other reenactment groups in the Bay Area. His replicas and original creations were celebrated by many.
His working life outside of Faire was mostly spent in the medical field where he held many positions over the years, from military medic to ER tech, EMT, medical assistant, and more. He was also a big fan of the San Francisco Giants, the Vegas Golden Knights, and loved to explore the Nevada desert for artifacts and new fishing spots.
He was as passionate about his family, extended family, and friends as he was about his metal work. The relationships he forged throughout his life were ever growing, with most becoming life-long. He found peace and purpose in remaining as engaged as possible with many of them.
His sense of humor was legendary, especially his puns, and his knowledge of all things was extensive, which included his ability to play several instruments and speak several languages. We were all blessed to have him in our lives.
A celebration of life will be held on a future date. Details will be provided when arrangements have been finalized.
