Gwendolyn Denise Trawick was born on September 16, 1958 in Sylacauga, Alabama to the union of Martha Perry and Dennis Trawick. When this union ended Gwendolyn was raised by Albert Jackson as his own until his death in December of 2017.
Gwendolyn accepted Christ at an early age and was Baptized as a member of Sunset Missionary Baptist Church.
On June 03, 1984 Gwendolyn gave birth to her one and only child, a son, D’Juan Darby. Gwendolyn was a very dedicated, devoted, and loving mother who did everything within her power to give her son the best life possible and to provide all of his wants and needs. If you knew Gwen and D’Juan then you know that they shared an unbreakable bond and that they went everywhere and did everything together, if you saw one you often saw the other.
Gwendolyn spent her life working for Los Angeles Unified School District as a Special Education Assistant for various schools and grade levels where she was able to stay until her retirement. Working for Los Angeles Unified gave Gwendolyn much joy as she had a positive impact on most of the students and faculty that she had the privilege of working with. Many of which continued to stay in contact with her throughout the years.
In February of 2015 Gwendolyn’s first grandchild, Te’Sean Darby was born. Te’Sean was Gwendolyn’s pride and joy. He is all that she would talk about. As great of a mother that Gwendolyn was, she was an even better grandmother who went above and beyond for her “Boogey Moo Moo” as she would call him.
In January of 2021 Gwendolyn gained a daughter-in-law and was able to attend and witness her son D’Juan come together in Holy matrimony as he married the love of his life Quay Darby.
Gwendolyn brought much love and joy to all that had the pleasure to know her and to be blessed to have her in their lives. Unfortunately, Gwendolyn succumbed to her various health ailments in the early morning hours of October 02, 2024 at the age of 66 years old. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by Martha Jackson (Mother), and Albert Jackson (Father). Gwendolyn is survived by D’Juan Darby (Son), Te’Sean Darby (Grandson), Quay Darby (Daughter-In-Law), Phyllis Trawick-Wysinger (Sister), and a host of nieces, nephews, close friends, family, and extended family.
Gwendolyn will be truly missed here on this earth as we continue our journey to get where she has gone.
