Harry David Easterby

September 9, 1952 — June 10, 2023

Las Vegas

How do you measure the life of a man? With Harry David Easterby, it is his love for his *if" of 45 years, Carolyn, and his son Neil; his large family of siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; through the depth of his friendships, many from childhood. And don't forget his dry sense of humor, sharp wit and his generosity. He was born in St Louis, Missouri, the third child of Robert and Rita Easterby. He was named for his British grandfather, Harry and had a pretty typical childhood for the time. Besides his two older sisters, he is survived by his younger sister and two younger brothers. They grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, where Harry made friends with fellow crossing guards in the 6th grade and remained friends his whole life. He always had a core group of friends throughout high school. He and his friends lived through some of the most turbulent times in the 1960s and were in the final draft for the Viet Nam War.

He moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the early 70s, where he began his long career working his way up various phone company ladders as a splicer in Florida and Chattanooga, Tennessee, to telecommunications engineering in Las Vegas for nearly 40 years. When he gave tours of Las Vegas he would show which hotels he'd worked in and where the hidden access panels were located. He could tell you what hotel used to be where, and how much a drink cost in the early 80s.

It was also in Florida, where he met his wife, Carolyn, and they wed in 1978. They welcomed their son Neil in 1982 in Tennessee and moved to Las Vegas when Neil was seven months old. Harry began working as an engineer within the telecommunications industry and Carolyn began working in the Henderson Library system.

There were many trips back to St. Louis to see family and friends. Many visited them in Las Vegas, His ln-laws were frequent visitors and they in tum traveled to Monroe, Louisiana to visit Carolyn's family.

Harry David Easterby died June I0,2023, at the age of 70 after complications due to surgery. His parents, grandparents and mother-and father-in-law preceded him in death. He is dearly missed.
