Helen Louise Alexander Fugazzi, 86, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at Nazarene Senior Memory Care Home. She was born October 17, 1927 in Belleville, PA, to Joseph and Harriet Freet Alexander who predeceased her. Helen Louise graduated from Belleville High School in 1945 and married the late Samuel Ben Miller, also of Belleville, after his return from Naval service during WWII. They had two children, both of whom survive their mother. In 1951, she and her children joined her parents in relocating to Sarasota, FL. In 1958, she married the late William Fugazzi of Sarasota and shared 47 happy years together. She was employed by General Telephone Co. of Florida and retired as a Manager after 38 years of service.
At age 4, Helen began learning to play the organ at the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Belleville and served as a church organist throughout her life at several churches including her home church, Faith Baptist of Sarasota, FL. She was a learned Bible scholar and founded People for Christ ministry in Florida. She taught Bible classes and had a weekly radio broadcast on WKXY of Sarasota for over two decades. She also had a weekly broadcast for several years on a Christian station in Las Vegas, NV, where she and William moved after her retirement. In addition, Helen served as Treasurer of her Homeowners Association for several years.
In addition to daughter Susan Miller and son Ernest Miller, surviving are granddaughter Alisha and husband Dr. Mark Wenzel, and grandson Benjamin and wife Teresa Cody Miller, all of northern California.
Interment was at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV, next to husband William. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org.
