Helen Genevieve Leonard, 92, a retired federal employee with the Defense Contracts Administration, of Las Vegas, passed away April 23, 2012. She was born June 22, 1919 in Vliets, Kan., and was a 22year resident of Nevada. Helen was a kind, considerate, always helpful person. When Helen was born, the Treaty of Versailles, ending World War I, had not yet been signed. Paved roads were infrequent in her native Kansas. She was a farm girl, but when she began her working career, she quickly became quite worldly in her knowledge. She served her country for more than half her life, working for the Department of Defense. She was fiercely patriotic, and there was no finer American than she. As a trusted citizen, she was cleared at some of the highest Department of Defense levels. She takes with her some knowledge that, probably, is still not divulged to the public. We all will miss you, Helen. She is survived by her husband, Wilfred J. Leonard.
