Helen Bertha Neal, 94, a retired registered nurse, of Las Vegas, passed away April 25, 2012. She was born March 19, 1918, in Staunton, Ill., and was a 51year resident of Nevada.
Helen graduated from St. Louis University, School of Nursing, in 1939. She served as a civilian employee at Scott Air Force Base, during World War II. Helen married Michael Neal, shortly after the war ended, and their daughter was born, during their time, in Chicago. They moved to Las Vegas in 1961, where she was an office nurse for several private physicians until her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and volunteered for several charities, most recently, Helping Kids Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Neal sisters, Margaret, Louise, Bernadette and Leona and brother, Frank.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Susan Brooks soninlaw, Dr. Dwyte Brooks grandchildren, Edward Brooks Jr. and Rebecca Heller greatgrandchildren, Trey Brooks III, Alice Brooks, Payton and William Heller, all of Las Vegas.
