Henry Nathaniel Bowles was born on December 18, 1918 in Alligator, Mississippi to Henry and Allie Bowles. He was the only child born to this marriage. Soon after his birth, his parents relocated to St. Louis, Missouri where he received his formal education, graduating from Vashon High School in 1937. After high school he attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1949, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves as part of the medical division. He spent more than 20 years in the Army Reserves, retiring from the Army in 1978. He was employed at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO as a medical equipment repairman for over 25 years before retiring.
In 1950, Henry moved to Denver, CO. He was a man of religious faith and was an active member of Peoples Presbyterian Church, Denver, CO. holding many positions in the church during his over fifty years of membership. He will be remembered for his life of community service and his love of ongoing learning. He was a Mason. He was a Shriner. He was member of many service organizations.
Henry enjoyed life. He loved to travel, really enjoyed good food, and had a taste for most gourmet foods. He had an enthusiasm for most sports, especially those Denver
Broncos. He loved smooth jazz and all the Big Bands ofthe 40s. He had a strong
passion for lively conversations with his friends on most subjects. He loved to talk.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Allie Bowles, his son, Harlan
Bowles and stepdaughter, Nerissa Gullick.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his lifes memories, his loving wife of fortythree years, Norma one cousin Herman Hendricks and his wife Lola of Los Angeles, CA.
