James Patrick Blomquist

James Patrick Blomquist ""Jimmy"", passed away on January 19, 2016.

Jimmy was born on February 24, 1963 in Long Island, NY to Carl and the late Margaret. He was the youngest of four boys. He was the beloved brother to Steven (MaryEllen); Rob (Laura), and Alan (Ginny). His brother's children made up the nephews and nieces who kept him in their thoughts and hearts even though he lived far away. They include Danielle, Michael, Robert, Kimberly, Samantha, Ashley, and William.

Jimmy moved to Las Vegas in the 1990's where he worked as a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service. He also was a former President of the Mail Handler's Union, where he diligently and passionately fought for his co-workers rights, and won most of the time.

It was at the USPS where he met Danielle Sheridan, his late wife. Together they had two beautiful (and tall) children, Kevin (15) and Thomas (14). Both Kevin and Tommy are promising tennis players who through their hard work and dedication of being the best that they can be on and off the court, continue to make their parents proud.

In 2011, Jimmy married Dolores, who loved and cared for him by his side until his last breath. He was a loving step father to Melissa and Joe.

He was also a friend to many, including the teammates he had while playing and coaching on his Men's softball teams. In addition to being a loyal NY Mets fan, Jimmy will be remembered for his laugh, his heart, and the strength he always had in facing any challenge that came his way.

He is now in peace, in God's eternal grace, with his spirit living on in the many lives that he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
