James C. Huang of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully on September 25, 2016. Jim was born in Shanghai, China on August 28, 1937. After fleeing with his family to Taiwan, Jim served in the Marine Corps. Jim earned a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Chun Yuan University in Taiwan. In 1964, he immigrated to the United States, where he attended the University of Missouri at Rolla and earned a M.S. degree in civil engineering. In 1970, Jim married his wife, Stella, in Albany, New York.
Jim worked for the New York State Department of Health, where he helped develop and manage the state's Environmental Radiation Surveillance Program, from 1966 until his retirement in 2001. In retirement, Jim and Stella moved from their longtime home in Voorheesville, New York to Henderson to be closer to their children.
In addition to Stella, Jim is survived by his children, Sandra and Eric, and his granddaughter, Caroline. We will miss his love of good food and his wonderful sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 this Friday morning at Davis Funeral Homes and Memorial Park in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
