James Pierpont Jolley, 61, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018. He was born December 5, 1956 in Las Vegas, and was proud to claim it as his lifelong home. He inherited his name from his grandfather, a badge he wore with honor. Jim's earliest employment took place working by his father's side in their family Spudnuts doughnut shop. He attended UNLV and went on to pursue a career in hotel food and beverage management and later in real estate and self-storage operations, where he was awarded manager of the year and the GE Real Estate CEO Recognition. In both his professional and personal life he tried to live the by the creed, ""Be the leader that others want to follow. It starts with integrity and treating others the way you want to be treated.""Jim had a great love for magic, which began at age 7 when he received his first magic set from his Aunt Millie. Magic became his favorite hobby, entertaining friends, nieces and nephews and eventually creating a motivational magic and music seminar, which he presented to church and corporate groups. Jim was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Fransisco Park Ward), where he served as a High Priest. He married Tena (Crabtree) Jolley on November 11, 2014, in the Las Vegas LDS Temple. Jim believed families could be together forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Berry Jolley and Eleanore Louise (Pierpont) Jolley, his sister, Vickie Louise (Jolley) Toy, his brother-in-law, Steven Leonard Toy, his aunt Mildred (Pierpont Ulmer) Cotner, and his grandparents, James King and Mary Anna Emma (Schmidt) Pierpont and Berry and Mary Diantha (Jones) Jolley. He is survived by his wife, Tena, and two stepchildren, Cassaundra (Melton) Parrish (Gordon) and Tim Melton (Christine), a step grandson, Travis, eight nieces and nephews who he adored: Melisa (Toy) Holmes (Blake), Shayndel (Toy) Smith (Ryan), David Toy (Joanna), Sarah (Toy) Dean (Travis), Timothy Toy (Nancy), Joshua Toy (Miriam), Emily (Toy) Buckley (Bryan), Miriam (Toy) Jenson (Ryan), and many great nieces and nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 24 at the Paradise LDS Stake Center, 1725 Palora Ave., Las Vegas, with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be at the Davis Paradise Valley Cemetery, also in Las Vegas.
