Janet Marie Roberts (AKA Janet Greek)

Janet Marie Roberts (AKA Janet Greek) of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on August 22,2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Janet was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on February 14, 1954 to Jean and Stephan Hernishin. She was a beautiful and loving person who always cared about others. She had a magical energy about her that lit up the room.

Jan had a passion for art and took that passion and went back to college while in her 50’s. While there she was a straight A student, received her bachelor’s degree and went on to receive her master’s degree in fine arts at UNLV. Jan was incredibly talented and had a couple exhibits of her artwork locally at one time.

She taught at Dessert Pines High School since receiving her maters degree. In her teaching career as a special education teacher she loved her students as if they were family, was loved by her students and influenced their lives in a positive way. A garden for the students was just one area where she elevated her give back approach to teaching. She will be missed there.

Jan married Tom Roberts. In Salem, Oregon they met at a club where Tom was playing his clarinet and fell in love. They were happily married for 33 years until his passing.

Besides her passion for art, Jan loved to sing and dance. She taught at her parent’s ballroom dance studio in her youth. She was a class clown too…. hide your Kazoos if your around!

Jan is survived by her brothers and sister; Gary Hernishin, Brian Hernishin and Jeri Ferrell. Her nephews and nieces; Mike, Brandon Natalie, Stephanie, Cheyenne and Sheridan. And of course, her dog, Toby.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 14,2020 between the hours of 9:00 AM-11:00AM at Davis Funeral Home, Located at 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am. After services the family will meet at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1900 Veterans Memorial DR, Boulder City, NV 89005. Arrive at 1:10PM, and the burial services will begin at 1:20PM.
