Jean LaTralle Hayward passed away suddenly on December 7th, 2019 at UMC Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. She was 79 years old.
Jean was born June 28th, 1940 in Savannah, GA to James Theron Grooms and Hazel Bernice Drawdy. Jean was the oldest of three sisters, Joan LaVone Grooms and Anita Louise (Grooms) Baldwin. Jean grew up in Charleston, SC where she met her husband and love of her life, Richard Lee Hayward, at the age of 16. One week before her 18th birthday on June 21st, 1958, they were married.
With Richard in the United States Air Force, Jean became a homemaker while they traveled all over the US and part of Japan. In 1972, when they settled in Las Vegas NV, Jean went on to work for Plane Gold Inc., a ground transportation company. Years after she retired, Jean became an active member within her church community helping to co-found a quilting group at the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
Jean is survived by her three children Michele, James, and Barbara; husband Mark, her granddaughter Amber; husband Chris, and sister LaVone. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and sister Anita.
Her burial service will take place at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, 89005 on Tuesday, December 17th, 2019 at 12:00 pm.
At a later date, there will be a "Celebration of Life", at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship located at 5825 Eldora Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89146
on Sunday, December 22nd.
