Jenny Rose Serritella-Cotsilis went home to God on August 5, 2024, with family and friends by her side. Jenny’s unwavering spirit and faith in God were a source of comfort for all.
Jenny was born May 7, 1934, in Chicago, IL to Concetta and Joseph Serritella. She grew up in a loving family in the Italian neighborhood of Chicago with her parents and three siblings, Jean (deceased), William (deceased) and Therese (deceased). Jenny’s family included many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as close friends that grew to be family. As the baby of the family, Jenny’s siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins all loved to dote on her and, as she liked to say, “treat her like a princess.”
Jenny loved her hometown of Chicago, and never thought she would live anywhere else. However, her dear friend Dolores had moved to Las Vegas and in 1979, she convinced Jenny to join her and start another chapter of her life. Jenny worked at Caesar’s Palace for 28 years, where she made many new and dear friends. She joined St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox community, where she was welcomed with open arms. She loved the liturgy and fellowship, and she was always happy to help prepare the food and baked goods for church occasions, the highlight of which was St. John’s Food Festival every year. It was at St. John's that she met her husband, Peter Cotsilis, whom she married in 1990. She and Peter were blessed with almost 20 years of marriage.
Jenny had a giving spirit and loved to volunteer in her local community. She volunteered at the Desert Springs Medical Center gift shop for 25+ years and became valued member of the team. She also volunteered at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health for 10+ years, greeting patients and guiding them to their appointments. Her volunteer work was a source of great joy and purpose. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and made them feel comfortable and special.
Jenny is survived by her niece Mary Frances Agelson, nephew Joseph Serritella (Deanna), nieces Judith Ann Gorsuch, Karen Agelson, Janice Serritella, Marybeth Alexander, and Nancy Colderchant (Paul) and nephew Louis Agelson (Catherine), seven great-nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and nephews.
Jenny was a friend to all. She cherished her friendships and received many blessings in return. May her memory be eternal.
