Jerry Fabian Belmonte was born on July 2, 1962 in Manila, Philippines. He was the eldest child of Rufino Belmonte, Jr. and Felicitas Fabian Belmonte. They lived in the town of Sampaloc where Jerry attended Saint Dominic for his preparatory education. In 1969, Jerry immigrated to the United States to further his education. He lived in the San Fernando Valley where he was raised by his Grandparents Rufino Belmonte, Sr. and Paula Belmonte, and his Aunt Dolores Negrosa and Uncle Serecio Negrosa. Jerry attended Poverelo for kindergarten and Santa Rosa School for grades 1 thru 8. While at Santa Rosa, Jerry excelled in his studies and was accelerated to 6th grade, skipping 5th. His preoccupation with sports, especially horse racing which was shared by his grandparents developed and grew during this time. Jerry attended Alemany High School where he continued to excel academically. In addition, he earned a position on the junior varsity basketball team, winning an MVP in the process.
After graduating from high school in 1980, he pursued his childhood dream of becoming a professional race horse jockey. He started as a stable hand and worked his way to exercising the horses and working with trainers. On December 30, 1985 Jerry won his first race. He turned professional in 1986 and was the 1 apprentice in New Jersey that year.
In October 1987 Jerry met Rochelle Richman, and in February 1988 went on their first date which would lead to their engagement in April 1989 and their marriage in 1990. Jerry returned to California in 1991 to establish his professional career as a jockey on the west coast. They rented an apartment in San Leandro in 1992 and eventually owned a home in Pleasanton by 1993. Sadly, he suffered a riding accident in that year that ended his riding career. Soon after, he attended Las Positas and Oholone College to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. In 1997 Jerry moved to Hawaii where he picked up the game of golf, launched Dolphin Communications, and developed a greater love of the ocean. He returned to Los Angeles in 2000 where he took on the full time responsibility of being the best uncle to all his nieces and nephews while resuming his pursuit for a career in broadcasting. This lead him to Clear Channel where he produced radio shows for KBIG and KOST from 2001 till 2009. Jerry lived life to its fullest. His perception of the world, his youthful spirit, and his generosity and kindness continue to inspire those who allowed him to be a part of their lives.
