JOAN BUCKWALTER Our beloved mother, Joan Ross Buckwalter, 76, of Tridell, Utah, passed away August 5, 2013, in Las Vegas. Joan was born December 4, 1936, to Stephen Laren Ross and Christa Ann Allred. She was the seventh of nine children. She grew up on a small farm and loved tomatoes and potato chips. She went to Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah and graduated in 1954. She went on to earn a BA degree in elementary education at UNLV and taught in Clark County School District as a substitute for many years. Joan was a member of the LDS church and has lived in Las Vegas for more than 45 years. She has served faithfully in many church positions. She was a primary and Sunday school teacher, young womens president, relief society president among many other positions. She also served 16 years at the Las Vegas Temple. She was also an officer in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, which she loved. Her favorite calling was a as a wife and mother and grandmother. She loved to travel with her husband throughout the world. Her favorite place was Arabia and the Holy Land. Joan was kind, compassionate, loving, dedicate, exercised great faith, knowledgeable and embodied virtue, integrity and good works, she showed kindness humbleness and a loving attitude toward all people. But most she will be remembered for her good heart. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Christa four brothers, Val, Farrel, Garth and Craig and two sisters, Lorna and Velora. Joan is survived by her husband, Ray daughter, Jan sons, Kevin, Marc and Bryce grandsons, Trevor, Brycee and Cade granddaughters, Brooke, Alissa and Chloe her brother, Steven and sister, Glenna. Viewing will be 910 a.m. Saturday, August 10, with funeral services following at 11 a.m., both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, 410 Valle Verde, Henderson, NV 89074. Burial will be at American Fork City Cemetery, 26 W. 600 N. American Fork, Utah 84003. The family members wish to extend their gratitude to all their friends and family for their love and support during this difficult time.
