Joel Barez, 72, of Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Kingman, Arizona, passed away at his home unexpectedly with his wife, Sandi, by his side, September 16, 2011. He was born December 13, 1938 in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late Ada and Nathan Barez.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joel retired two years ago from Riverside Resort Casino in Laughlin, where he was the executive director of national and international group sales for 18 years. His career began in the 60s in Las Vegas with the Clark County Sheriffs Department, and he also served as the chief investigator for the citys attorneys office. Joel was an active member in organizations such as the International Clown Association, Shop With A Cop, MakeAWish, American Heart Association , Homeland Securities, several Masonic Orders, and the Shriners.
He loved to golf with his friends and watch football. Joel brought joy to the life of many, always. He served his community and expressed his faith he was a man who led his life under the leading of God and loudly expressed, One nation under God
He will be forever missed and admired. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Barez, his mother, Ada Barez, and his sister, Elaine Barez Pfister.
Joel is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Sandi Crook Barez his children, Nathan Barez and Michelle BarezGleason Tim his sister, Debby BarezChaudoir Larry grandchildren, Brandon, Colton and Mason and other family members and friends.
There will also be a celebration of his life 46 p.m. Monday, October 3, in the Starview Room at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin.
