John W. Trabert Sr., 74, a retired electrical engineer, of Las Vegas, passed away March 30, 3011. He was born October 4, 1936, in Reno, and was a lifetime resident of Nevada.
John graduated UNR with a BA in electrical engineering in 1959. After graduating, he moved to Las Vegas to work for EGG Energy Measurements out at the Nevada Test Site. It was at the test site that he met and married his wife, of 24 years, Devonne. They raised three children together until her passing in 1994. John retired in 1996 from EGG as the Los Alamos Program manager after 36 years.
He then went on to fulfill his and Devonnes dream of traveling the world. Other than traveling, John enjoyed volunteering at the Atomic Testing Museum, spending time with good friends and family, and was a diehard Cubs fan.
John was a extraordinary man with the kindest of hearts and a fantastic sense of humor. He will be missed tremendously by all who were blessed to have been a part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 24 years, DeVonne Trabert and their daughter, SGM Dana McWilliams, U.S. Army ret..
He is survived by his son, John W. Trabert Jr. 41 daughter, Sharon Trabert 37 granddaughters, Jennifer Prager 31 and Alyssa Trabert, aka Slugger, 16 grandson, Christian De Los Reyes 14 greatgrandson, Jordan Panotes 5 and greatgranddaughter, Victoria Panotes 2.
