It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jorge Eduardo Valencia on October 22, 2024, at the age of 85. Jorge was born on November 12, 1938 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Roberto and Velia (Treviño) Valencia.
Jorge was married to the love of his life, Margarita, for 63 years. He was known for his unwavering love of family and dedication to his faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).
Before retiring in 1998, Jorge owned and operated a meat and food distribution company (Valley Institutional Foods Co.) in McAllen, TX. He was loved for his friendly demeanor, strong work ethic, humorous nature and determination. Jorge enjoyed sports, Mariachi music and a good steak. He made friends wherever he went and loved being in the service of others. He held numerous leadership roles in the LDS Church, but it was his role as husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that brought him the most joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Carlos, and brothers Ricardo and Guillermo.
He is survived by his wife, Margarita, four children Sandra Bryan (Michael), Jorge Jr. (Sean), Mario (Sunny), Judy Santmyers (Scott), ten grandchildren Kenna, Logan, Dallin, Cameron, Baylee, Sydney, Joshua, Hope, Seth, Eli and six great grandchildren Eliana, Ava, Maxwell, Jovie, Ezra, Madden and siblings Roberto (Lavee) and Sylvia Vela.
