Jose Dominguez, 83, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on July 31, 2020.
Jose Dominguez was born in Havana, Cuba. To Jose Eduardo and Maria Teresa on March 19, 1937.
Jose's life didn’t turn out as he anticipated as a youth. Born into a family of lawyers, doctors and land-owning gentry, he was studying medicine at the University of Havana when Castro came to power, targeted his family as an enemy and went after its wealth. In 1961 after spending months in a concentration camp, Jose signed over his plantation and all his belongings to Fidel Castro’s communist government. He came to Las Vegas with nothing but the clothes on his back. It was the Tropicana Hotel and Casino that provided him with the resources to live the American Dream. He worked as a showroom usher at the Strip Resort for over 50 years. He always loved talking to people, if it was when working, dripping with gold jewelry and his white suits, or a home with his Cafecito and bread. His most memorable work experience came when he met his 007 hero, Sean Connery and he got to take him a dry martini, shaken not stirred. Jose became a U.S. Citizen in the 1980s, He was married twice. His first marriage gave him 2 children and 3 grandchildren and his second 4 children and 1 grandchild. He was a beloved father and will be greatly missed.
