Jose Robaina, 83, beloved husband and father, was called home to be with The Lord on July 8, 2015. He entered this world on March 19, 1932 in Unión de Reyes, Matanzas, Cuba, born to Diego Robaina and Antonia Tejera. Jose lived the epitome of the American dream, with a journey that began as a child in Cuba. He was a baker and also owned a poultry market while in Cuba, which is where he met the love of his life, Daisy, and after fleeing communism to the United States became a porter for Ballys / MGM in Las Vegas.
His hard work and unwavering perseverance, supported by his strong Catholic faith and devotion to his family, allowed him to attain a life filled with love and success. He was proudly patriotic and remained a pillar of strength regardless of the challenges he faced.
Jose is survived by his children, Maria Ryder-Curry and son-in-law Michael Curry, Cesar Robaina and daughter-in-law Cindee Robaina, Danet Robaina and grandchildren, Chelsea Ryder, Robyn Robaina, Cameron Ryder, Christopher Curry and Jeanne Tanner. Sister, Georgina Robaina Tejera and her children Georgina Gonzalez Robaina, Linset Ramos Robaina, Juan Carlos Gonzalez Robaina of Barcelona, Spain. Nieces Lucy Martinez and Mariem Rodriguez. Mother-in-law Maria Josefa Padron, sister-in-law Maria Acosta Torres and her children Alyize Castano, Crystal Acosta, Juan Carlos Acosta and Nicholas Acosta. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Daisy Robaina.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 13th from 6-8 PM at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 14th at 10 AM at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd., with the burial to follow at Davis Memorial Park.
