Our beloved Joseph Cameron Ro Kent, born January 12, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madeline Colleen (Timney), his son Timothy (Dennis) and his son Jeffrey (Perris), daughters-in-law Cynthia and Linda, his four grandchildren, Joseph (Gianna), Kristen (Clint), Mackenzie and Sydney, his four great-grandchildren Fallon, Haisley, Kacen and Ryker, his brother-in-law, Roland Timney (Peggy) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his eldest son Roland, his parents Richard and Edna, his sisters Marie and Jenny, and his in-laws Roland and Ruth.

After losing both of his parents at the age of 18, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV. There he met the love of his life, Madeline "Coke" Colleen, whom he married on February 1, 1958. Joseph was honorably discharged from the military after four years working as a crew chief on F-100s and began to start his own family. He joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1977 Union where he was a member for 42 years working on numerous projects throughout the Southwestern region. He retired from the Carpenters Union in 2001 at the age of 65. Joseph then enjoyed finishing carpentry and freely shared his skills. He leaves behind numerous woodworking masterpieces, treasured functional pieces, that have served several generations of the family.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife and three boys. Joseph and Madeline built their first cabin in Panguitch Lake, UT in 1988, however, it succumbed to a fire and burnt to the ground. They persevered and rebuilt a new cabin that still stands today and has become the family summertime hangout. Aside from enjoying the mountains, Joseph was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan and has passed his passion on to his family.

During his retirement, Joseph was surrounded by love from his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When he wasn't making everyone laugh with his multitude of jokes, he was watching one of his favorite movies. He was a hopeless romantic and adored his wife above all. His final words were, "Family first, no matter what." He was the heart of our family and will be incredibly missed.
