Joseph Hannon Nugent

U.S. Navy, Retired Joseph Hannon Nugent, 71, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in Las Vegas. He was born March 19, 1941, in Cleveland, and has resided in Nevada since 2005. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Pa., and received his BA from John Carroll University, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves as a commander and served from 1964 until 1991, serving four campaigns in Vietnam. He was a proud member of the American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus. Joe made a career in safety and risk management. Recently, Joe served as the chief administrative officer of the State of Nevada SCATS Department. He is survived by his wife, Lin Nugent daughters, MaryAnn Caskey of Cockeysville, Md., and Amy Langhorst of Las Vegas son, Joseph Nugent of Enola, Pa. and four grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3036 Alta Drive, Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
