CWO 3 JOSEPH SNOW U.S. Army, Retired Joseph Charles Snow passed away peacefully Sunday, November 20, 2011. He was born July 5, 1922, in Gary, Indiana.
He enlisted in the U. S. Navy October 12, 1942, where he was chosen to attend officers training at the University of Texas at Austin. He was stationed on the USS Tanner and other ships during World War II, the Korean War and times of peace. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Naval Reserve Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Upon finishing his service in the Navy, he became a U.S. Army soldier with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. The Army awarded Joseph the Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Army Commendation Medals and the Valorous Unit Award.
After 26 years of military service, Joseph returned to school and became a computer programmer for Allstate Insurance Company in Chicago. He and his wife moved to Las Vegas in 1990. Playing bridge and billiards were his favorite retirement activities.
Joseph dedicated his life to serving his country and providing for his family. He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Mary Elizabeth Snow and daughter, Melissa Ann Balice.
