Family matriarch Katherine Fay Franzen -McLean, resident of Henderson, Nevada, passed April 26, 2023, after a brief illness. She was 79 years young.
Born on the family farm in Washington County, in upstate New York, located near the township of Hudson Falls to William and Mary Franzen. Preceded in death by brothers Bertil, Theodore, Konrad, and sisters Astrid and Ingrid (in infancy), the simple life on the farm was an idyllic setting during her youth. Katherine would speak of her mother, father, siblings and many cousins that surrounded her as she grew into womanhood.
Her first marriage ended leaving four children to care for as well as her aging mother. She not only worked in a local factory (Chase Bag) but found time to take secretarial classes near Albany. A chance encounter. On a trip to California, she would find love and marry Charles McLean, a single father with one child. Charles and Katherine were married, forty-one years until Charles’s passing in 2011.
Surviving children are Robert K. (Baker) McLean, wife Eva M McLean, of Kingman, AZ., Barbara J. McLean, of Henderson, NV., Bonnie L. Aplin, husband David, of Lenexa, KS., Rebecca C. McLean/Stout, also of Lenexa, KS. Preceded in death Eric M. McLean (08/14/2014).
Grandchildren: Janise and husband Joseph Beard jr., of Reno, NV. Jim and wife Angela Aplin of Redlands, CA., Christopher and Gina Stout of Oklahoma, Lori K. McLeans of New York City, Joshua M. Hawthorne of Kingman, AZ., Summer R. and spouse Jolene McLean of Henderson, NV.
As well as Six great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country, as well as family in Sweden.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Davis Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 6200 S Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV on May 11th, 2023, between the hours 12 -2, Burial to follow at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice in Katherines remembrance.
