Kathleen Jeanne Morse
Kathy passed away January 21, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born Nov. 10, 1951 in Painesville, OH to Harry and Cecilia “Mary” Keough Morse. While she grew up in Ohio, Kathy lived in a variety of places. Her passion was working with middle and high school students. She obtained degrees in counseling and school administration, putting them to good use as she worked in schools in South Dakota, Browning, Mt, Ohio, and Virginia before settling in Las Vegas. Along the way, Kathy made friends and was respected by her peers.
Kathy particularly enjoyed her time in Montana and those friends became family. Wherever she went after her 10 years in Montana, she carried those friends in her heart, returning for visits and staying in touch with their lives. Kathy also enjoyed Las Vegas, here she worked in many different high schools in administration, She had many friendships that lasted until she died. She was an advocate for those students on the edge and worked tirelessly supporting and encouraging their efforts. She rarely missed their sporting events, concerts, and anything else they were involved in. While she retired in 2015, she still followed the school events. She was always an advocate for education.
Kathy loved the ocean, frequently traveling to San Diego and Hawaii. She embraced the beach life and could spend hours watching the waves. One of her proudest vacations took her to Ireland, where she could let her Irish roots shine. Kathy also loved the theater and spent many nights enjoying performances at the Smith center with her friends. She enjoyed a good rodeo, particularly the Indian National Finals Rodeo, where she cheered on her favorite cowgirls and cowboys, connecting with her Montana friends.
Kathy is survived by her brothers Timothy and Terrence, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her adopted Las Vegas and Montana families. She was preceded in death by her mother Cecilia K. Morse, father Henry D. Morse, sisters Mary Margaret, Elizabeth “Betsy”, Jeanne, and her brother Thomas. Memorial services at Davis Funeral 6200 S. Kathy didn’t believe that DNA alone designated family. She made you feel like family. She will be deeply missed by her family and many “family” friends.
