Larry Boone

Larry Boone, 78, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. Larry was the son of Malton and Mary Helen Boone, loving husband of Louise Boone, and proud father of Shelley, Tonya, Greg, Brenda, Justin, Ryan, Tara, and Bret. Larry is survived by Louise, his children, and grandchildren.

Larry was born in Texas and moved frequently as a child. After graduating from high school in Tennessee, Larry entered the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Essex aircraft carrier. Upon discharge, Larry hit the open road in his corvette, heading West to California. Larry explored many occupations before obtaining a college degree in Business and beginning his career in Human Resources in Helena, Montana, then continuing on to Roseburg, Oregon, and Lewiston, Idaho. In Lewiston, Larry met Louise, the love of his life. The two were married in July of 1988 in Portland, Oregon. Larry enjoyed a successful career working for numerous hospitals and ports in the Pacific Northwest. He served as adjunct professor teaching Human Resources classes at Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho as well as HR certification classes at Bellingham Technical College in Bellingham, Washington.

Larry's adventurous nature and love of learning new things led him to seek many hobbies. These included teaching Hatha Yoga, cycling, sailing, riding scooters/motorcycles, drumming, Spanish, classical guitar, fishing, golfing, horseback riding, kayaking, and tennis. After retiring in 2011, Larry and Louise relocated to Henderson, Nevada seeking good golfing weather and a pool-side retreat.

Larry loved traveling with Louise, camping in the RV, fishing in Nevada, Utah and Montana, golfing with his friends and sons, drinking wine over a great conversation, and playing with his grandchildren. Larry was an extraordinary mentor. His compassionate wisdom, laugh and warm smile will be missed by all who knew him and were a part of his life.

A memorial service will be held at the Wild Horse Golf Club, 2100 Warm Springs Road, Henderson, Nevada, on Friday, January 25th at 2 pm.
