Lash Larue Dean was born on July 12, 1967 in Memphis, Tennessee to proud mother, Annie Dean and loving father, Albert Dean Jr. Lash was the first born child of these newlyweds and became eldest brother to his sisters Connie and Wanda Dean. At the age of three, Lash and his family left Memphis and started a new life in La Puente, California where he grew to become very much an athlete and sports enthusiast. Guided by his father Albert, Lash was introduced to football at age 9, basketball at age 10 and baseball at age 11. He continued to expand his love for football in high school and developed personal growth with high school weightlifting where he achieved membership in the 1000lb club. In pursuit of the dreams that all young men have of greatness and accomplishments, Lash in his early 20’s moved to San Bernadino, CA and began his career in private security. Lash matured and began his legacy of fatherhood when he met Bertha Hull and moved with her to Las Vegas, NV where they welcomed their beautiful baby girl Shannon Dean. Las Vegas became as much home to Lash as his birthplace of Memphis, TN as it was where he ventured into business ownership with the formation of his own security company. He gain employment and created lifelong relationships providing security at Rancho Indoor Swapmeet over the next several years. Then finally moving to Whittle Sea Blue Cab company in 2011 where he remained gainfully employed for the next 10 years sharing his life adventures and philosophies with every patron to enter his sacred cab. Lash’s passion for sports led him to an opportunity to rekindle his love for sports.
OBITUARY: Our beloved "Coach Dean" as he is so well known by in the Las Vegas youth sports communities, has had quite an extensive history of coaching, mentoring and even sponsoring teams in his 20 plus years of service to Las Vegas youths. Starting in early 2001 when he partnered with NYFL (National Youth Football League) to coach the Jaguar Pro's little league football team. As the seasons changed Coach Dean continued to educate one team after the next under the NYFL partnership until 2007 when he added Red Rock Little league baseball organization to his itinerary and reached out in his stern passionate way to yet another dynamic of young athletes. In 2006 Coach Dean and his bestfriend Coach Knox partnered with a few other prominent coaches to form SNYSA (Southern Nevada Youth Sports Association) the first Black owned league in the district. Over the next 15 years Coach Dean built a legacy of pride and respect for football, baseball and basketball in 1000s of Las Vegas youths in collaboration with local camps like Zulu's , Desert Shield and most recently Chey-Town. Lash’s life legacy grew as he continued to plant roots in the Las Vegas community when he met Patricia Desierto and fathered two handsome sons , Lyle Dean in 1995 and Lash Dean Jr in 1998. Lash and Patricia entered into holy matrimony on June 12, 2001 and remained partners, friends, coaches, parents and grandparents until he closed his eyes for eternity on September 1, 2021, with Patricia standing by to the very end.
