Lavonna Forrester

On Sunday, November 27, 2022, LaVonna Mae Forrester, a beloved sister, mom and grandmother, passed away at age 86.

LaVonna was born in Amherst, Wisconsin, to Lyle Acle Johanknecht and Gertrude Arvella Hopkins, on December 27, 1935.

She devoted her entire life to serving God and her family. She loved being with family even if it were just watching TV. She cherished every family get together and lit up at the mention of family gatherings at her home. LaVonna helped prepare holiday tables with festive decorations for all to enjoy. She followed many family members on Facebook and appreciated the ability to stay in touch with them.

She enjoyed looking at the sky and watching the clouds float by. She dappled with bird and hummingbird feeders, and enjoyed watching the birds flit about through the window.

LaVonna wasn’t able to go and do anymore, but she continued donating to multiple Christian organizations including giving her tithe to the local Spring Valley Baptist Church. She was God’s servant and took every opportunity to talk about and praise Him. She would always tell people to “have a blessed day”. Even when in the hospital, every chance she got, she would talk to the doctors, nurses and roommates about God’s glory.

LaVonna is survived by her brother Larry (Butch) and his wife Judy; her children: Darryl and his wife Suzanne, Dale and his wife Debbie, Debra, and Donna and her husband Gene; in addition to her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

We know that God is pleased to have one of His children back in His arms, where she belongs. LaVonna will be sorely missed on earth. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11a.m. at Davis Funeral Homes, 1401 S Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas NV 89146.
