Lela Mae Langstraat

The funeral for Lela Mae Langstraat will be at 10:00 am Monday November 18, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home in Las Vegas, NV, with Scott Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Davis Memorial Park cemetery in Las Vegas. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home on Monday.

Mrs. Langstraat, 88 of Las Vegas, died peacefully Saturday November 9, 2013 with her husband Ernie and her daughter Rosanna by her side at The Heights of Summerlin in Summerlin, NV.

Lela was born May 26, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to Ralph and Anne Philpot Shineman. She graduated from North East High School, in Kansas City. She married Russell Gibson in Kansas City, they later divorced and she married Ernest Langstraat in Kansas City, MO, and moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked as a bookkeeper for Arnolds Womens Clothing in Des Moines. Lela and Ernie retired and moved to Las Vegas.

Survivors include her husband Ernie of 58 years, her two daughters, Barbara Max Miller of Ankeny, Iowa and Rosanna Greg Gamm of Rochester, MN. one son Russell Langstraat of Mesa, AZ. three stepdaughters, Connie Annis, Linda Slote, Bonnie Andersen six grandchildren, Mike Miller, David Miller, Bronwyn Gamm, Alex Langstraat, Marcy Nordstrom, Allissa Langstraat nine stepgrandchildren, Jerlin Lieurance, Tiffany Medina, Marty Weiss, Steven Andersen, Rachelle Andersen, Chad Andersen, Jon Andersen, Jeff Andersen eleven great grandchildren and nineteen stepgreat grandchildren. Lela is also survived by her brother Ralph Hazel Shineman of Kansas City, MO brotherinlaw Elmer Langstraat of Las Vegas and sisterinlaw Ruth Lawrenz of Des Moines, Iowa.
Lela loved sewing, animals, flower arranging, traveling, and being with family.
