Lillian was born in St. Paul MN to Louis and Anna Bily on January 12, 1933. She grew up in the family home on 999 Delaware Ave. where she helped raise her younger sister Dianne who called her Tootsie. She was a voracious reader, good at drawing and ceramics, and loved to go to the movies with her father. She loved animals and especially liked to play hide and seek with her cat and snow white German Sheppard named Queenie. Lillian went to Humboldt High School where she was on the honor roll. The councilors recommended that she continue to college however, she had to go to work instead. She worked for the phone company and then at an accounting firm. Lillian was a whiz with numbers and kept meticulous records which saved the firm thousands of circa 1955 dollars.
She fell in love with Gerald P. Schotik who as it turns out, was a childhood acquaintance that she met while picking berries. She became a homemaker and had three children. Lillian then worked at her husbands drugstore while maintaining the household: a truly modern woman in the sixties. She reluctantly moved to Las Vegas in 1972 along with the rest of the family however, after a years time, she became so accustomed to the warm climate that she would not return to Minnesota to live. Until his passing she was the selfless caregiver to her husband after he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure disease CHF. Her sons looked after her for her final four years at the age of 81 she passed quickly without pain doing her normal morning routine on March 8, 2014.
