LT. COL. LOUIS SIEGRIST JR. U.S. Air Force, Retired Louis William Siegrist Jr., who was born in Cleveland, October 31, 1915 and lived in Las Vegas for 38 years, left this Earth March 3, 2011, after a brief illness. He was 95 years old.
He served as a pilot and check pilot in World War II, was on active duty during the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Air Force in 1965. He also retired as a school bus driver from the Fairborn, Ohio, and Las Vegas School Districts.
He graduated from Syracuse University in New York, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Retired Officers Association.
He loved his wife and family and life itself. He lived in his home with his wife until six days before his death. He loved his country and was proud of his military service. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling, dancing, dogs and was a formidable poker player. He loved children and they were drawn to him. He was deeply loved by his family, who will miss his wonderful wit, his warmth, his big heart, his intellect and insight, his guidance and the sparkle in his eye.
He is survived by Dorie, the love of his life and wife for 66 years his daughter, Toni Siegrist Adams his son, Louis William Siegrist III his grandchildren, Derek and Sean Adams, Natalie Schiemann and William Siegrist his greatgranddaughters, Katya Adams 6 and Gracie Siegrist 1 and many nieces, nephews and inlaws.
Memorial service and burial with full military honors will be in Aurora, Ohio, Saturday, March 26.
