Lucille Marie Dames was born in Chicago to Shirley Moore and Michael McCune. She was the youngest of three daughters.
Her father joined the Army and was lost in World War I, leaving Shirley to raise three children on her own. Shirley was able to hold down two jobs but had to place the children in a Catholic convent in Kankekee, Illinois, and could see them only on weekends.
Lucille grew up rapidly, made it through high school and then on to a job with Western Union, where she met and fell in love with George E. Warner. They moved to California in 1938 with their two boys, Michael and Jon, and settled in Alhambra to continue working and raising their family.
Lucille began working at Thrifty Drug Stores and eventually divorced George after 30 years of marriage. She retired from Thrifty Drug Store but continued working part time at the Huntington Pharmacy in San Marino, California. One of her customers who lived in the neighborhood was Trent R. Dames, one of the founding partners of Dames and Moore, a worldwide consulting and engineering firm that had employed her son, Michael, for several years.
Lucille and Trent suddenly had a lot in common and began a wonderful friendship that lead to marriage in 1985 when they both were in their midseventys They traveled extensively until Parkinsons disease ended Trents life in 2000. Lucille then moved to Las Vegas, where she spent the rest of her life near her two sons and their families.
Lucille is survived by her son, Michael G. Warner her 3 grandsons, Jeffrey C. Warner, Gary D. Warner, and Chris T. Warner and her granddaughter, Michele K. Warner.
