Madison Anthony Chavis Jr. was born on August 28, 1951 to Madison Anthony Chavis Sr. and Christine Adams. As a child, Mack, as he was known moved to Virginia where he attended school. He graduated from Craddock High School in 1968. Upon completing high school, Mack entered the Marine Corps. As a Vietnam veteran, he served his country for seven years. After he was honorably discharged, Mack became a Naval police officer in Virginia, then later in California. After retiring as a policeman, Mack worked in the housing industry, until an injury caused him to retire permanently. He eventually moved to North Las Vegas where he resided at the time of his passing.
Mack married Emma Ray Chavis and became the stepfather to her daughter, Marcy in 1975. He also adopted as a surrogate father, a young lady, Clara as his daughter. He was also the father to two of his own daughters, Christine and Danielle Chavis. In addition, he helped to raise five more stepdaughters during his relationship with their mother, Ophelia (the mother of Danielle).
Mack was pre- deceased by his father, mother, daughter Danielle, and brothers Bobby and Ronnie. Mack leaves to cherish his memory: daughters Christine, Marcy, and adopted daughter, Clara; stepdaughters Cassandra, Renee, Rosie, Tiffany, and Theresa; sisters, Pamela, Doris, and Debra; brothers Petey, Jimmy, Darnell, Lutrell, and Romac; his aunt Lyndia; 12 grandchildren, a great grandson, a special friend, Pamela Hammon (his Bumble Bee), and a host of relatives and friends.
