Margaret Murphy

Margaret Frances Murphy was born in Union Mills, North Carolina on April 18, 1931, to Weldon and Helen Koone. When she was six years old, the family moved to Salisbury, North Carolina where she graduated from Spencer High School and later graduated from Salisbury Business College. In 1952, she married Phil Murphy. Later that year they had a daughter named Janice Kay. For the next 25 years, Phil made a career with the Air Force and they lived in several different states and overseas. Phil and Margaret finally settled in Las Vegas, where she worked for the school district as a secretary for 29 years, retiring in 1995. She had many talents that included sewing, quilting, and cooking. Margaret and Phil enjoyed traveling in their RV until Phil's passing in April 2002.

Margaret is survived by her son-in-law Rick Stanley; two grandchildren Kerry Price (Dan), and Grant Stanley (Erika); her five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Peggy Koone; brother-in-law Jim Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Weldon and Helen Koone, her husband Phil Murphy, daughter Janice Stanley, brothers Walter and Ernest Koone, and her sister-in-law Vicki Murphy and Robbie Koone.
