Maria Ortega

Maria Celida Ortega de Meraz went to be with her Lord on the morning of October 9, 2020 at the age of 75 years old.

Maria is survived by her children Rosalinda, Ramona, Martina, Daniel, Sabino, Paula, and Andres. She is predeceased by  her son, Angel Armando Gonzalez; brothers, Sabino Ortega, and Jose Ortega; sister, Isaura Ortega; brother,  Angel Ortega; granddaughter, Melissa Rodriguez; and parents Jesus and Margarita Ortega.

Maria was born on July 18, 1945 in Chacala, Jalisco, Mexico to Jesus Ortega & Margarita Gonzalez Ortega. She was the 5th of 7 children. Having 4 older brothers, Jose, Sabino, Pedro, and Angel Ortega. She had two younger siblings, sister Isaura and brother Rosendo Ortega.

Maria came to the United States in 1969, with five children: Rosalinda, Ramona, Martina, Daniel, and Sabino. She then had her son Angel Armando Gonzalez. She married Andres Meraz in 1972 and two more children, Paula Meraz (Grajeda) and Andres Meraz Jr. (Ortega). She and Andres divorced and she spent the rest of her adult life living with her children and assisting to raise her grandchildren. Maria has a total of 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Her presence will be forever missed for her loving ways, and always willing to help others. For always being so brave and always being so blunt. She always put her family first and loved her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren so much. She loved to dance, spending time with family, but most importantly, going out for her daily walks!
