Marianne Eggleston

August 12, 1927 — January 26, 2024

Marianne Luhm Eggleston, 96, joyfully went to heaven from her Henderson home in the early morning hours of January 26th.

Marianne was born in Milwaukee, WI on August 12, 1927, the only child of Walter and Gertrude (Fredrick) Luhm. In her early 20s, she moved to Las Vegas where she met and married her husband Gordon. For 25 years, she was a secretary at Nellis Air Force Base.

Never forgetting her roots, Marianne remained a fierce Green Bay Packers fan, watching her last game on January 20th. Many people were drawn to her for her liveliness, love of life, and sense of adventure. In her teens, she enjoyed roller skate dancing; belonging to a group called Hell-O Rollers. While raising their children, they spent many weekends boating on Lake Mead where Marianne was an accomplished water skier.

Marianne will always be remembered for her coordinated and jazzy style, hosting lavish and festive gatherings, and being an incredibly adventurous soul. She enjoyed a 265-mile river trip on the Colorado River with the iconic Georgie White. She traveled extensively with her husband, friends, and daughter Sue. In later years, she especially enjoyed boat trips on US Rivers with Sue. She went skydiving more than once. One of her last trips in 2023 was with Oliver to Sedona where they went on a hot-air balloon ride.

For the last 40 years, playing bridge brought her great satisfaction and great friendships - bet she's already got a bridge group going on in Heaven!

Marianne loved her friends and family deeply and in her last days said that her life had been full and her children are her greatest accomplishments. Marianne is survived by her son Alan (Michelle) Eggleston, "adopted" son Oliver O'Bryant, son-in-law Shane Ross, granddaughters Barbi (Robert) Ross and Michelle Eggleston, 3 great-grandchildren, and countless amazing and loyal friends.

She is preceded in death by her Husband Gordon, beloved daughter Sue, and many dear friends.

The family thanks Amore Hospice Care - although brief, we are extremely grateful for the outstanding care and support given to Marianne. Great thanks also to Helping Hands as Marianne often spoke of how much she benefited from your program and the special relationships she formed with staff and drivers.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Amore Hospice Care, 3821 W. Charleston Boulevard STE. 110, Las Vegas, NV 89102 or St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation, 102 E. Lake Mead, Henderson, NV 89015 in support of Helping Hands of Henderson.
