Marie was born in Southern Ohio on December 22, 1925. When she was 15, she moved to California where she later met and married Daniel Mundy, the love of her life. Together, they had two children, Patrick and Teresa. Marie is survived by her son, Patrick Mundy.
While Daniel was fighting in World War II, Marie became ""Rosie the Riveter"", working in a U.S. defense plant. When the war was over, Daniel came home and he and Marie began their lives in California.
Daniel and Marie spent many years in Washington D.C. serving the Building Trades and upon Daniel's retirement, they moved to Las Vegas. After Daniel's passing in 2005, Marie began a new journey in life. She became a generous and important friend to Opportunity Village and Best Buddies, Nevada.
Marie impacted the lives of thousands of families of children with disabilities during these past ten years and received many awards for her kind generosity. She received the Angel Award from Opportunity Village while Best Buddies awarded her with their highest honor as ""Super Hero"". This past Mother's Day, Marie was recognized by Best Buddies as the Mother of Best Buddies Nevada. Marie will be missed by so very many people and she will be remembered as a hero to people with disabilities and their families. She was a wonderful friend, a much loved Mom to her son Patrick and a very special woman.
A memorial service for Marie will be held at Opportunity Village, 6300 West Oakey Boulevard, Las Vegas on Monday, July 27th at 10:00am.
