Maris Dian Shake of Henderson NV, formerly of Mt. Pulaski, IL passed away on September 6, 2017, at the age of 79. Maris was born on January 17, 1938, in Altamont, IL, the daughter of Frederick Orville Kline Sr. and Naomi (Hollingsead) Kline. In 1959 she married Donald Eugene Shake of Morrisonville, IL. He preceded her in death. Maris had her own accounting service where she kept books for many area construction businesses. She retired in 2002 to spend more time with her family. Maris was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pulaski for 46 years. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir. She also served on the board of trustees and was a bookkeeper for the church. Maris loved to cook and bake for her grandchildren, almost as much as she loved to shop. She was famous for her made from scratch pie crusts and chicken and noodles. In 2014 she moved to Henderson NV to be near her family. Her kindness, love, generosity, and sense of humor will live on in those who were blessed to love and know her.
A memorial service will follow at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Smile Train.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Burkey of Las Vegas, NV., and Laurie Chuba of Herndon, Va.; one sister Darlene Brown of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister-in-law Joyce Shake of Morrisonville, IL, and four grandchildren. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.
