Marjorie Gleed, 83, passed away Aug. 11 at her home in Boulder City. She was born March 1, 1929 in Perth, Western Australia.
In her youth, Marjorie excelled in her studies, and worked as a hairdresser, an xray technician and a fashion designer for one of Melbourne, Australias leading fashion houses.
In 1951, she moved to Montana, where she met and married George Gleed and started a family. Marjories family moved to the Reno area in the 1960s when George Gleed purchased the Renobased Western Tobacco company and the Las Vegasbased Western Cigar company.
While living in Reno, Marjorie cultivated an awardwinning rose garden, dabbled in journalism and supported the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra. An avid collector of vintageantique clothing, Marjorie founded the Nevada Film Wardrobe costume supply company in Las Vegas in the 1980s. She lived in Las Vegas from the 1980s until moving to Boulder City in 2006 to be closer to her family.
Later in life, Marjories greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren, painting and talking about the two novels she planned to write. She made the best spaghetti.
Marjorie was preceded in death by husband George Gleed and brother Trevor Kitcher.
She is survived by sisters, Joan Stan Saxon and Janet Kitcher brother, Ron Sally Kitcher daughters, Candice Gleed, Jennifer Gleed and Valeria Fred Wright five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
