Mark Joseph Rehrauer, son of Luke (George) and Lioba Steffes Rehrauer, was born on August 16, 1923, in Chilton, WI.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was stationed in the China Burma India theatre and in Saipan and Tinian. After military service, he attended St. Norbert College, married Frances Schunk on June 7, 1947, and graduated from St. Norbert's in 1948 with a B.S. in Economics. He also completed post-graduate work there.
From 1948 until 1968, he was the Human Resources Director for Nicolet Paper in De Pere, WI. He then became Human Resources Director for the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, where he worked until his retirement in 1986.
In 2003, he and Frances moved to Henderson, Nevada, where he resided until his move to the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada in July 2014.
Mark died peacefully in his sleep at the Veterans Home on Friday evening, December 4, 2015.
The priorities in Mark's life were God, family, and country. He served as parish trustee for St. Boniface Parish in De Pere for 19 years and on the parish council at St. Patrick's in Whitewater.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 65 years in the Abbot Pennings Council in De Pere and a member of the 4th degree Assembly in both Fort Atkinson, WI and in Henderson, NV. He served the Knights as Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator. He also volunteered at the Food Pantry and in other philanthropic endeavors in Whitewater, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, and his children, Ann, Mark, Stephen, Luke, daughter in law Michelle, Matthew, and Mary Lee Wegner. He is also survived by his brothers, John and William Rehrauer, sisters-in- law Stephanie Schunk and Marilyn Rehrauer, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Frank and Mary Schunk, and his siblings, James and Joan Rehrauer, as well as his sisters- in-law Constance Kauwalu, Nora Rehrauer and Shirley Rehrauer, his daughter-in-law Wendie (Mark's wife), and Mary Lee's significant other, Kevin Leydon.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on January 4, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Henderson with Father Steve Rehrauer and Father Matthew Rehrauer as celebrants and pastor John T. Assalone as con-celebrant. Burial will be at the Veterans' Cemetery on January 4th at 2 p.m.
