Mary Louise Burger

Mary Louise Ziegler, Kalas, Burger, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Mary was born on January 5th, 1927 in New Rockford, North Dakota to Peter and Martina Ziegler.  She graduated in May of 1946 from St. James Academy and moved to Chicago in July of that year.  She married Elmer Kalas in April of 1949 as the family grew the couple welcomed Dwight, Martina, and Scott to the family.  During her next chapter in life, she married Edward Burger on October 20, 1973, and were together for a beautiful 30 years.  The family-operated two convenience stores.  After the family sold the stores, Mary continued to work to stay active. 

Mary loved to knit, making afghans for each member of her family.  She loved to read poetry and going to convalescent homes as a eucharist minister.  She supported the church in every way she could.  As a young lady, Mary had thoughts of being a Nun, however, Sister St. James would tell her “You like to dress up too much.” 

Mary will be missed for her love and devotion to her family.
