"Mary Lou" Manning Jones

Mary Lou Manning Jones, age 97, of Las Vegas, passed away on 11 March 2025 in Henderson.

Mary Lou was born in Portland, Oregon to RuLon Hollist Manning and Aglaia May Anderson on 11 September 1927.

She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, then from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She married Gerald Wallace Jones, and together they had eight children. She was much beloved in her community and in her church congregations, serving tirelessly and enthusiastically for over 70 years in the children’s and youth organizations. Mary Lou loved music, and shared her talents through singing, and playing the piano and the organ. She worked for many years as a medical assistant in her husband Gerald’s medical office. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her favorite food was “anything chocolate.”

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband Gerald W Jones, MD, her daughters Gail and Larainne, and her grandson Kevin Dickson.

She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Danette Swanson, daughter Peggy Lyn and her husband Matthew Callister, daughter Marilyn and her husband David Dickson, daughter Patricia and her husband Jonas Thomander, son David and his wife Sandi Taylor Jones, and son Richard and his wife Emily Selby Jones. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday 31 March 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 875 Rich Perez Jr Drive in Henderson. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Bunker’s Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W Lone Mountain Rd in Las Vegas.
