Mary Leichter

Mary Leichter, aged 93, passed away peacefully at Pacifica Senior Living Green Valley, in Henderson, Nevada on September 21, 2024. Her daughter Leslie was with her in her final hours. Mary’s long life was characterized by her loving care for her late husband Paul, her daughter, and all her family. She was an amazing cook, had an infectious laugh, and a wonderful sense of humor.

Mary was born on August 19, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, to Rudolph and Minnie (Waldbaum) Goldstein, the youngest of two daughters. After graduating from high school in Brooklyn, New York, she became proficient in stenography, working at various law offices in Manhattan.

She met Paul Leichter while working one summer at The Laurels Hotel and Country Club in the Catskills, outside of Monticello, New York. Mary and Paul were married in October 1953 in the Bronx, New York and they had one daughter, Leslie (Leichter) DeVore. During their life together they raised their family in Miami Beach, Florida, and Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, New York, before settling in Las Vegas in 1972. Mary provided a warm and comfortable home for her family, filled with love and laughter.

Left to honor and remember Mary are her daughter Leslie, Leslie’s husband Tom DeVore, two grandchildren Sara (DeVore) Friedl and Evan DeVore, and three great-grandchildren.
