MATTHEW GLIMALDI Matthew Joseph Glimaldi, 92, a 37-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away July 1, 2016, of natural causes. He was born Aug. 20, 1923, in New York City, to Matthew and Katherine Glimaldi. Growing up in Chicago, Matt served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A successful insurance broker around the Chicago area, he retired to Las Vegas. Matt enjoyed his retirement in Las Vegas, playing cards diligently in card rooms all around the strip. A generous man with a great sense of humor, he took pride in his Italian heritage and taught his kids to cook his moms family recipes, passed on from generations back in Naples, Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Katherine; sisters, Mary and Josephine; loving son, Dennis; stepdaughter, Paulette; and stepson, Mark. Matt is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; daughters, Marilyn Franklin, Deborah Lucas and Marie Lyon; stepchildren, Alisa McCloud and Fred Gavitt; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, with Mass following, both at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines. Luncheon following. Burial following at 3 p.m. with full military honors at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. ""You will always be remembered and missed.
