Max Hobbs Morelock passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from a heart attack, while at home in Henderson. He was 90 years old, born in 1923 in Long Beach, Calif., and grew up in El Monte, Calif. 2nd Lt. Morelock was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base here in Las Vegas for three years prior to his discharge in 1947. He graduated from Pomona College and later did graduate work in labor relations at UCLA. He worked in labor relations in private industry and in 1973 was selected to a team of professionals to implement the first union contracts with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990, and was serving as the Long Beach divisions manager of labor relations. Max then went into the Peace Corps for five years. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Sarah nee Hayes Morelock. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Miner Morelock daughter, Marylou Morelock of Topanga Canyon, Calif. son, Lawrence Morelock of Las Vegas and four grandsons, Michael of Uruguay, Blake of Las Vegas, Bryan and Lawrence, Jr. of Whittier, Calif. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas. Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Foundation or to the American Heart Association .
