Dr. Michael E. Morrisett, was born on July 2, 1960 in Oklahoma City, OK to Betty Jo Choate and Cecil Morrisett. He was called home to the Lord on October 26, 2020.
Michael lived in Albuquerque for 32 years and was very proud of being a green chile eating New Mexican. He played football for NMMI, graduating from Sandia High School, (we went to rival schools, so Sandia sucks!). He received a degree in Instrumentation and Control from UNM.
He moved his family to Las Vegas, NV in 1992 and joined the casino world, working for Station Casinos for 14 years as a dealer, floorman and box man. He suffered a massive heart attack in 2002, while recovering from seven vessel bypass surgery he would walk to the school across the street to volunteer in a Special Education classroom specializing in Autism. There he found his calling. He went back to school full time, while working full time and taking care of his family, earning a PhD in Special Education from UNLV.
He spent the last 14 years at Clark County School District in many specialized Special Education programs, including Region Special Education Facilitator, School Education Instructional Facilitator, but his heart was always in the classroom. Michael loved his students, giving parents his cell number and answering their calls anytime day or night,
Michael loved to travel, play golf, he loved good whiskey and playing dominos.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother Thomas Bender.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 32 years, Heidi Morrisett, daughter Kimberly Mabry Bell and husband Jason Bell, son Aaron Morrisett, daughter Sarah Mabry Padovese, daughter Jordan Morrisett and husband Lucas Perez.
