Micheal Douglas Lester, 75, of Henderson, NV passed away unexpectedly from natural causes at his home on December 24, 2021. Born in Coronado, CA on August 4, 1946, Mike served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1964 - 1970, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. After separating from the military, Mike worked for the State of California before moving to Las Vegas, NV. During his years in Las Vegas, Mike was instrumental in the construction of many of the popular casinos, hotels, and restaurants on the Las Vegas strip. An avid, accomplished bowler and golfer, Mike won many tournaments in his younger years. He loved animals, the beach, and sports (especially his hometown San Diego Padres). A hard worker and loyal friend, Mike would help anyone in need and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma O’Malley (nee Roth) and Dewey “Les” Lester. He is survived by his children, son Shawn Collins (Karen), daughters Dawn Colyer (Stephen), Ciara Wieland (Truitt) and Dr. Brie Turns; brother David Lester; sister Victoria LaPuzza; grandchildren Emily Colyer, Scott Colyer, McKinley Wieland, and Charlotte Wieland and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are to be made to your local animal shelter or a military veteran’s charity of your choice.
