Millicent Idora Hinds Martinez, 95, of Brooklyn New York, passed away on June 23rd, 2023, in Henderson Nevada. Millicent was born on August 29th, 1927 in Havana, Cuba to Leslie Andre Hinds and Florence Campbell.
In 1955, Millicent migrated to the United States with her first husband and father of her children, Garfield Smith Sr. Millicent then worked in the medical field for more than 40 years where she received numerous accolades and rewards.
Millicent is preceded in death by her brother, Clifford L. Hinds, her grandson John Alfonso, and 2nd husband, Alberto Martinez.
Millicent is survived by her daughters Elvira L. Griffith, Irma M. Williams, and son, Garfield Smith Jr. She is also survived by her grandkids Yvette Griffith, Gary Kevon Smith, and Samuel Gist, as well as her great granddaughter Emma-Lia Thomas. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; Dagoberto Hinds, Justin Dagoberto Hinds, Walter Hinds, Yunior Hinds, Andre Hinds, Dishon Ahing, Marlene Taylor-Crawford, Roselda Collings, Claudette Gordon, and Son-In-Law Henry Joseph Williams Sr, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Millicent was an inspiration and an example for so many people, and she will always be remembered for her kindness, patience, love and understanding. We truly have been blessed to have her in our lives. She was well-loved and will always be remembered with great love.
Visitation will be July 15th, 2023 from 12pm - 2pm, followed by funeral service from 2pm - 3pm at the Davis Funeral Home. The Burial will follow her Funeral at 3pm, also at Davis Funeral Homes and Memorial Park, 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
