Nevenka grew up on a farm and maintained a farm in Croatia where she loved taking care of her cows, horses, pigs, and chickens. She was a consummate farm girl. She adored being in the garden growing her many assorted fruits and vegetables. Everything she planted produced a successful harvest. She deeply loved flowers especially Roses which she lovingly maintained around her home and was very proud in maintaining her castle. She liked to surround herself with beautiful things and maintained a peaceful space and an elegant style of her own. She personified the phrase "cleanliness is next to godliness." Those that new her would probably smile and agree to that statement.
She loved cooking and always wished she was given an opportunity when she was young to work as a chef. She could make a tasty dinner out of a few basic ingredients. She loved to entertain in the kitchen. If you had visited her at her home, you might find her wearing an apron making stuffed cabbage rolls in a big pot that every family member loved and looked forward to eating and which she graciously gave everyone plenty to take home; can't forget about her bread making skills, cakes, cookies as well as her homemade yogurt. She loved to sing and dance her Croatian folk music. She was very light on her feet and her voice was strong with feelings brought about from life's joys and hardships in her younger days in the "old country."
To sing and dance was liberating for her. She prided herself in any kind of work she undertook and was in the moment. She was kind, simple, with an energetic spirited personality. She was a devoted wife and a loving and caring mother to her three children. She carried a befitting name, Nevenka, which means "Marigold" the flower, as well as "Never wilt."
Nevenka leaves behind her daughter Ankica Ivancic and son Walter Banovic and is preceded by daughter Mira Likarevic.
