Norman Leon Barry

April 26, 1941 — November 27, 2019

Norman Leon Barry (aka Dad, Pops, Grandpoo, Grandpa), passed away at his home, where he loved to be most, on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 at the age of 78. Norman was born in a small town called Fillmore, Utah on April 26th, 1941 to Beulah and Winfred Barry. In May 1959, he graduated from Millard High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was so proud to serve his beautiful country on the Lexington Aircraft carrier. While in the Navy, he acquired his vocation in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Norman and Nancy were married July 20th, 1960. They had four beautiful children: Kimberly, Michele, Michael, and Brian. Once he received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he and Nancy set down roots in Las Vegas, Nevada. He started out with a couple of odd jobs to just keep his little family cared for until he landed a great job with Anderson Dairy where he could put his vocation to good use. He later moved on to his dream career as the Maintenance Engineer for Kentucky Fried Chicken. He would go on to work there for 34 years until his retirement.

Norman was the life of the party, he lit up every room he entered with his hardy, belly laugh. He treated everyone he met like a friend and got along with everyone he met. He loved his four children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 greatgrandchildren with all his heart. He was the world’s best jokester and loved to tell everyone stories about his time in Japan, in the Navy, being with his family, and working. Whenever someone would come to his home you would be sitting there watching westerns with him all day while he told you stories. He would let his grandchildren trace his tattoos on his arms with a pen while sitting on his lap. He liked to give his family members sweet nicknames like “sweedums” and “pumpkin” to Kimberly or “twinkle toes” to his grandchildren. He was truly one of the greatest men that have ever walked this earth.

Norman Leon Barry is survived by his children: Kimberly Ann Barry Greenwald, Michele Marie Barry Lee, Michael Thomas Barry, and Brian Leon Barry, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
